A Day in the Life and the Impact You’ll Make:
Within our Cybersecurity Hub, we conduct comprehensive IoT product evaluations and collaborate with world-leading manufacturers. Our goal is to identify risks and vulnerabilities in IoT devices and embedded systems to ensure secure interactions between technology and people, meeting international security standards.
You will join a globally recognized IoT security lab, working on international projects for top-tier customers. We seek enthusiastic professionals passionate about IoT technologies, embedded systems, and security, who combine analytical thinking and creativity to help safeguard our digital world.
What You’ll Do:
- Analyze hardware, firmware, and communication protocols (e.g., MQTT, Wi-Fi, Zigbee) to detect and document potential vulnerabilities and risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, compliance, and product development, ensuring secure implementation and design of IoT solutions.
- Perform in-depth evaluations and security assessments of IoT and embedded systems, aligned with standards like EN18031.
- Prepare detailed technical reports clearly documenting vulnerabilities, risk assessments, and recommended mitigation measures.
- Stay current with emerging IoT technologies, communication protocols, and security practices relevant to embedded systems.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience with IoT technologies, embedded systems, microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, or related fields.
- Proficiency in Linux-based operating systems and scripting languages such as Python and Bash (knowledge of C/C is a plus).
- Practical knowledge and experience working with communication protocols such as MQTT, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, BLE, or similar.
- Familiarity with IoT platforms, real-time operating systems (RTOS), or embedded Linux-based systems.
- Understanding of cybersecurity concepts, especially regarding IoT security frameworks like OWASP IoT Top Ten preferred.
- Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or similar qualifications relevant to cybersecurity preferred.
- Participation in technology or IoT-focused communities or forums (e.g., Stack Overflow, GitHub, Hackaday).
- Proficiency in additional languages (e.g., German, Spanish, Chinese) is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong aptitude for teamwork, particularly in an international and collaborative environment.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to deliver results on time.
- Ability to interface and effectively work with various groups and cultures involved (partners, government, agencies, contractors, operations, etc.), and gain alignment to achieve objectives.
- Ability to lead by example and use influence internally to attain goals.

Compensation:
DEKRA North America’s compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,700 annually in our lowest geographic market up to $96,000 annually in our highest geographic market. Actual pay is based on several factors including market location and position-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
