Job Description :
Manage and coordinate all activities of the Dietary department, ensuring nutritional and attractive meals for patients and employees.Maintain an organized and sanitary environment, monitor supply inventories, and manage food and supplies purchasing.Recruit and maintain an effective food service staff adequate to meet patient needs, and plan all dietary staffing schedules.Ensure staff retention through recognition of efforts, addressing issues, and maintaining staff morale.Establish and maintain a level of proficiency in the dietary staff to ensure quality food service.Provide leadership, management, in-service education, and orientation to food service staff and other facility staff as needed.Evaluate staff performance and ensure completion of performance evaluations timely.Provide counseling and progressive discipline to food service staff as necessary.Monitor food, refrigerator, freezer, and dish machine temperatures.Collaborate with the Safety Committee to provide a safe working environment.Ensure adequate equipment / supplies and maintain equipment in good condition.Maintain sanitation and infection control practices.Develop, review, and implement Dietary Services department policies and procedures; revise as needed.Assist with developing and executing the Food Service Department's Performance Improvement and Quality Management Plan.Consult with dietitians regarding the nutritional needs of patients.Approve all menus and ensure food service meets dietary requirements and special patient needs.Participate in budget development for the Dietary Services department and maintain budget accordingly.Responsible for purchasing, storage, inventory, preparation, and quality service of food.Maintain vendor relationships and monitor product quality and cost-effectiveness.Complete reports and update the Director of Plant Operations on departmental activities.Identify opportunities for service improvement, develop action plans, and implement changes.Serve on facility committees (e.g., Safety and Infection Control) and attend meetings as assigned.Demonstrate professionalism and support facility guest relations objectives.Adhere to facility, department, corporate, and personnel policies and standards.Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities.Maintain confidentiality of employee and patient information.Perform other duties as assigned or required by the position.Client Details
