Position Details
- Reports to: Safety & Employee Engagement Manager
- Job Grade: 9 ($28.89 - $35.48)
- Classification: Hourly (Non-exempt) Part-time
- Department: Human Resources
- Location: Delaware, OH; Olentangy Campus
- Schedule: Hours / Days per week are flexible, 24 hours per week total
- The Safety Coordinator aids with safety initiatives and supports select compliance activities across the company. This role assists in tracking regulatory updates from OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other relevant agencies, and reports findings to the General Manager and appropriate department heads.
- Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
- Conduct job site safety audits, hazard analyses, and equipment inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
- Lead and facilitate employee safety training programs, including topics such as Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Hazard Communication, and Electrical Safety (NFPA 70E).
- Coordinate the Emergency Response Plan and participate in annual reviews and updates.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Oversee the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) system and ensure proper chemical labeling and employee access.
- Support the internal Safety Committee and lead regular safety meetings to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Manage the review and approval process for new chemicals prior to workplace introduction.
- Compile and analyze safety statistics, maintain training and compliance records, and prepare reports for leadership.
- Stay current on industry best practices and regulatory changes by participating in professional development and monitoring relevant regulatory sources.
- Other duties as assigned.
Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the job duties successfully.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Possession of a bachelor’s or associate degree in a safety related field is highly desirable.
- 3 years of related experience and/or training in occupational safety.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations; safety principles; federal, state, and local regulations; safety inspections; and hazard assessment.
- Excellent communication skills and be ability to interact on a professional level with internal and external stakeholders.
- Detailed orientated, well organized, and can read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals.
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
