Job Grade: 10 ($31.58 – $38.89)
Classification: Hourly (Non-exempt) Full Time
Department: Quality and Compliance
Schedule: M-F 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: Lewis Center, OH; RES Campus
Summary Of Responsibilities
Performs chemical and bacteriological analysis on water according to approved standard methods and Ohio EPA methodologies to ensure safe and high-quality potable water for Del-Co Water customers. Maintain records in accordance with company guidelines and Ohio EPA requirements. Position will be responsible for coordination of laboratory activities, federal and state regulatory compliance, and developing database capabilities. Position will be responsible for monitoring, researching, evaluating, and recommending actions related to emerging water quality contaminants.

Essential Duties
- Coordinate laboratory, compliance monitoring, and data management activities for source water, entry points, and the distribution system.
- Coordinate water quality sampling programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; programs including microbiological, chemical, NPDES, and source water.
- Coordinate flushing program for water quality and dead-end portions of the distribution system.
- Assist in Lead & Copper program; stay current on regulatory changes and requirements.
- Assist in PFAS program sampling, research, and data analysis.
- Assist Water Quality Manager in submitting weekly bacteria samples, contacting Ohio EPA, and approving weekly bacteria samples.
- Develop on-line distribution system water quality monitoring program.
- Develop databases and Laboratory Information Management System.
- Research and report on current water quality issues and contaminants of emerging concern.
- Prepare and standardize all chemicals and reagents; calibrate and maintain sampling equipment, on-line instrumentation, and water quality probes
- Investigate and respond to customer water quality questions or concerns.
- Conduct sample collection and chemical and bacteriological analysis on drinking water, raw water, and treatment train samples to monitor water quality.
- Analyze chemical and bacteriological proficiency test samples and quality control checks in compliance with Ohio EPA requirements.
- Perform microbiological analysis for line extensions, depressurization, and weekly bacteria samples.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual Bacteriological and Wet Chemistry quality control.
- Coordinate with Operations Management to always ensure clean and orderly labs.
- Train new Operators on procedures for lab testing and compliance with Ohio EPA requirements.
- Perform flushing and testing of water to improve/maintain water quality in the distribution system.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Track all depressurizations on the system for the Ohio EPA.
- Complete bacteriological analysis for monthly reports.
- Record lab data and EPA data in Laboratory Information Management System.
- Work with suppliers on annual pricing.
Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the job duties successfully.
- A high school diploma or GED is required. A bachelor’s degree in a science-related field is preferred.
- A minimum of ten years of experience in lab, water quality, data analysis, or compliance related field.
- Course work or experience in biology and chemistry relating to laboratory water treatment analysis or a Class 3 Ohio EPA Operator’s license is preferred.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, Ohio EPA Laboratory Certification (Wet Chemistry and Bacteriological) within 6 months of start date.
- Database and Laboratory Information Management Systems experience preferred.
- Must be able to work independently, be well organized and detail oriented.
- Must be able to perform manual labor and be willing and able to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
