What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Coordinator position at Del Conca USA Inc?
The EHS & Training Coordinator’s primary role is to develop, establish, and maintain standards to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations with the EHS Manager. This position will also manage the documentation, training, auditing, administrative activities to ensure compliance with all State, Federal and OSHA regulations for a small to mid-size manufacturing facility.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, Position Requirements
- Administration and maintenance of health and safety programs.
- Assess risk, facilitate resolutions and training to safety concerns (through audits, suggestions, committees, associate suggestions).
- Promote continuous improvement by using 5S methodology.
- Assist with the safety onboarding process on orientation day(s).
- Coordinate the issuance of P.I.T. or mobile lift equipment certifications and training for associates.
- Ensure associates are following OSHA & plant safety policies and documentation control.
- Assist in conducting investigations related to occupational injuries/illness and any corrective actions.
- Coordinate all plant new hire training and verify competencies are met and documentation is kept in coordination with the human resources department.
- Maintain occupational injury/illness files and reports. Follow up on program requirements to meet needs of the facility. Including the annual training schedule/matrix and its completion.
- Conduct routine safety observation walkthroughs (Checking PPE, Safety Devices, Ergonomics, Safety Compliance, Conditions, etc.).
- Evaluate PPE requirements, ensure proper usage, and evaluation and selection.
- Oversight of the outsourced First Aid Cabinets and Eye Wash stations with the outside vendor (inventory and invoicing).
- Evaluate injuries/illness and recommend further medical attention as needed.
- Assist Safety Supervisor/Manager with environmental reporting and audits.
- Conduct health and safety trainings including co-chairing the safety committee.
- Update and maintain the PPE self -service vending machine database and locker room assignment list.
- Handling risk assessments to gather information on safety issues.
- Draft S.O.P.’s for safety and operations as needed.
- Verifying that associates consistently follow safety protocols through audits.
- Analyze health and safety data and provide reports on a regular basis.
- Will cover the Receptionist desk for vacation relief.
- Review and recommend changes to programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills Required
- High School diploma or GED – associate’s degree in science or occupational safety major (preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing production-based environment (Safety and/or Training, SOP, experience preferred)
- Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated ability to function successfully in a fast paced, changing work environment.
- Detail oriented, organized, reliable and resourceful.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
- Bilingual a plus
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification a plus
- First Responder Training a plus
