What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Medical Coordinator position at Del Mar Fairgrounds/22nd District Agricultural Association?
Job Overview:
This position is responsible for enabling a team of EMTs (emergency medical technician) to successfully provide efficient and courteous medical service to the Fair patrons, exhibitors and employees.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Provide overall coordination of the 22nd DAA medical unit (First Aid).
- Setup, maintain, and teardown of the First Aid office and stations.
- Provide pre-briefing for the EMTs and nurses at the beginning of their shifts.
- Provide pertinent information to the EMTs and nurses.
- Assist and guide the EMTs and nurses and offer correction as needed.
- Maintain a professional appearance in compliance with the Employee Handbook and uniform guidelines.
- Promotes the District's F.A.I.R. values by creating a quality guest experience for both internal and external customers.
Qualifications:
- Positive attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, good judgement, and professionalism, organized with problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to change and make decisions under pressure, and then move on.
- Ability to interact with the fair patrons in a calm, pleasant, professional manner to address their concerns.
- Ability to coordinate well with our medical (contracted) team.
- Open availability for the run of the fair.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting with moderate to high noise levels.
- Regular exposure to hot/ cold climates
- Ability to adapt to changing situations as needed.
- Must deal at times with rude and irritated customers in a polite and calm manner to try and resolve situations and concerns.
- Must be able to address issues with our medical contractor (and their staff) as needed when they are not following rules and/or procedures.
