What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spanish/Hands On Science Teacher for Grades K-6 position at Del Mar Pines School?
Del Mar Pines School, founded in 1978, is a small, private elementary school located in Carmel Valley. We have 150 students with one class per grade, K-6th. Besides the core teachers for language arts, math, writing, social studies, and science instruction, we also offer all of our students one hour each week of specialized instruction in music, art, PE, hands-on science, Spanish, technology, and library. These subjects are taught by experts in their content area who teach all of our students in K-6 grades.
Role Description
This is a part-time (20 hours / week) on-site role for a Spanish / Hands-On Science Teacher for Grades K-6 at Del Mar Pines School. The teacher will be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans, teaching Spanish and hands-on science to students in grades K-6, and fostering a positive learning environment. The teacher in this role teaches Spanish two 30-minute lessons per week at each grade level. They also teach hands-on science lessons one hour each week working with the classroom teacher to ensure that the hands-on lessons are integrated with the classroom science program. Mystery Science is used in grades K-5, and Inspire Science is used in sixth grade.
Qualifications
- Experience in Science Education (preferably Mystery and Inspire Science)
- Proficiency in Spanish
- Qualified Teacher certification
- Ability to plan engaging and interactive lessons
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for hands-on learning and interactive teaching methods
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
