What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Specialist position at Del-Mar-Va Council, Inc?
The Program Specialist is responsible for the implementation and carrying out of the Scouting Program in an after-school setting in Wilmington, DE area. Working alongside our partner organizations, Program Specialists work directly with our youth members teaching them life skills including physical fitness, environmental conservation, active citizenship, and STEM awareness.
The Program Specialist must possess a passion for helping your people (from kindergarten to Grade 8) to develop into responsible adults and have a high level of comfort in working directly with children.
Responsibilities include:
· Effectively conduct Cub Scout programming in selected schools and community centers.
· Willingness and ability to actively learn while preparing for weekly lessons using the Scouts America program.
· Provide age-appropriate activities to allow for advancement through the Cub Scout ranks
· Ability to commit to programming during the school year (September through May). The typical hours occur between 3 pm and 6 pm from Monday to Friday. Some special trips or events may take place on weekends.
· Ability to work as part of a team and work independently. Some sites will have two to four specialists on-site as well as staff.
· Communicate effectively with school staff, children, and Scouting professional
Additional Qualifications:
· High School Diploma
· Must have reached the age of 18
· Ability to work well with children
· Should be organized, self-motivated, and a team player
· Must live locally and have reliable transportation to and from program sites
· Scouting experience is a plus
· Ability to pass a background check

Pay: $22.00 per hour
