Purpose of Position :
Responsible for managing the timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close for Fresh Del Monte corporate legal entities, including all activities relating to the maintenance of the general ledger and financial statements. Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) for areas of responsibility. Manage requests and inquiries associated with the quarterly and annual financial statement audits.
Accountabilities :
- Actively manage the month end close by overseeing team deadlines and deliverables.
- Review and approve journal entries prepared by accounting staff and prepare journal entries for certain areas.
- Prepare and / or review balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis and propose adjustments as needed
- Oversee various corporate accounting areas including cash, payroll, intercompany, prepaids, inventory, fixed assets, debt and certain accruals.
- Prepare financial statement analytics for corporate legal entities.
- Review quarterly data requests submitted for external financial reporting purposes
- Interface with external and internal auditors and manage the preparation of quarterly and annual audit schedules / requests
- Maintain SOX documentation and oversee execution of key internal controls within the department
- Prepare statutory financial statements for applicable legal entities
- Recommend and assist in the implementation of improvements and changes to accounting controls, processes, and procedures
- Partner with other functions for ad-hoc projects on an as needed basis
