Primary Purpose:

Assists the campus principal with directing and managing the instructional program, supervising operations, and supervising personnel at the campus level.  Provides leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service.  Assists with monitoring the compliance of district policies, success of instructional programs, and operations of all campus activities.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Education/Certification:

Texas Principal or Mid-Management Certification

Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation & Support System (T-TESS) appraiser (or obtain within 90 days of employment)

Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50) paid by employee.

 

Required Experience:

Three (3) years’ teaching and leadership experience

 

Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness

Ability to manage budget and personnel

Ability to coordinate campus functions

Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data

Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Ability to analyze data to make instructional decisions

The administrator promotes academic improvements by assisting the campus principal by:

  • Encouraging innovation and research-based instructional programs. Integrating emerging technologies to enhance classroom instruction. 

 

School Culture and Climate

The administrator fosters a positive and inclusive school culture by:

 

  • Assessing and implementing strategies to improve the school and district environment.

  • Recognizing and reinforcing excellence among staff and students.

  • Creating a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment.

  • Utilizing effective and transparent communication.

The administrator leads efforts to enhance school performance by:

  • Encouraging innovation to improve student outcomes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises and evaluates the performance of staff assigned to campus including teacher(s), counselor(s), librarian, instructional aides and clerical support staff.

 

Equipment: 

Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and equipment, printer, copier, scanner, fax and other equipment applicable to the position.

 

Working Conditions

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: 

 

  • Maintains emotional control under stress.
  • Works with frequent interruptions.
  • Works irregular hour and extended work hours to include holidays and weekends.
  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying; may lift and move text books and classroom equipment.
  • May be required under specific circumstances to provide physical restraint of students in danger of causing harm to themselves or others.
  • Occasional district wide and statewide travel.
  • Use computer for prolonged period resulting in repetitive hand motion.
  • Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination vibration.
  • Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, etc.), work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces.
