JOB DESCRIPTION
The Sales Manager executes the sales strategy of the hotel, as defined by the Director of Sales & Marketing, to ensure that occupancy, average daily rate and market share goals are achieved. This includes creating and implementing specific account and/or territory-based sales strategies and tactical plans. This role will work directly with the DOSM to identify specific strategies and tactics to drive
revenue according to the hotel’s seasonal demand. Pro-actively manage all aspects of the sales cycle with prospects: relationship development, tradeshow attendance, outside sales calls, sales presentations, site inspections, proposal generation, and contract negotiations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Solicit new group sales accounts, maintain existing accounts, and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue goals and maximize profits for the hotel while maintaining guest satisfaction. Prospecting is a requirement as well as the ability and the competency to seek and close new and repeat business.
- Achieve budgeted revenues and personal/team sales goals and maximize profitability within all areas of responsibility. Produce regular reports and sales forecasts.
- Create and implement hotel-level tactical sales plans that drive measurable incremental occupancy, increase average rates, increase business volume during off-peak periods. Deliver sales activities/performance to ensure actual sales exceed the established revenue plan.
- Analyze current/potential market and sales trends and coordinate all activities to maintain and increase revenue and market share through added business volume and increased rate.
- Ability to adjust to current market conditions to stay nimble and react advantageously to competitors.
- Attention to detail.
- Able to negotiate, organize, delegate & work under pressure
- Ability to travel as needed to prospect and secure business for the hotel. Extensive travel to promote the hotel is required.
- Ability to work flexible hours and weekends as needed to work with clients and events
- Knowledge and professional use of social media as a tool to support business development
- Able to work effectively under pressure and handle several projects/deadlines
- Able to multitask and prioritize workload and projects simultaneously and efficiently
- Deliver on the promise of luxury hotel service in all interactions with guests and clients. Manage according to Delamar standards and instill a passion for customer service in all associates of the hotel.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- University or college degree equivalent. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel & Restaurant Management, or related major or professional area
- Computer skills and knowledge of industry-focused systems such as OPERA, SalesForce & Delphi including proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Minimum 2 years hotel sales experience
- Commitment to delivering a high level of customer service
- Strong leadership skills, positive attitude, and good oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills to understand key business indicators and competitive trends and develop creative approaches to these challenges
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of the local market and industry trends, competitors, and leading Customer strategies
- Excellent selling skills
- Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and independently
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Positive, enthusiastic approach with a team mentality
- Experience in luxury and boutique hotel brands is a plus
- Self-motivating mindset
