As an Optometric Technician Lead at Delaney Eye Center, you will play a key role in providing exceptional services to our patients. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of our clinical department, manage a team of technicians, and ensure a seamless patient experience from start to finish.

Clinical Responsibilities:
- Perform pretesting for routine patient exams: Autorefractor, Auto Lensometry, Fundus Photo, Visual Acuity, iCare Tonometry, Visual Field
- Perform pretesting for specialty patient exams: OCT Optic Nerve and Macula, Topography, Pachymetry
- Use eRx to create prescriptions based on doctor’s recommendations
- Insert/ remove contact lenses and supervise during contact lens training sessions. Educate the patient on proper contact lens care and handling
- Maintain accurate soft contact lens inventory and ensure stock orders are placed in a timely manner
- Order patient contact lenses (soft, hybrid, rigid) and verify parameters. Check-in all contact lens orders received in office
- Perform verbal screening with patients during workup to determine medical issues and reasons for the visit and chart responses accordingly
- Ensure efficient patient workup, from pretesting to checkout
- Respond to all patient-related faxes and reach out to referred patients to schedule an initial office visit
- Scribe for ODs during eye exams and specialized procedures
- Ensure accurate billing and coding for all vision and medical services provided during the date of exam
- Collaborate with the Front Desk and Opticians to ensure seamless operations and excellent patient care
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Foster a positive team culture that encourages collaboration and open communication
- Develop comprehensive onboarding and training programs for new hires and organize ongoing training sessions to keep the team updated on new products, technologies and best practices
- Implement efficient workflow processes to optimize the patient time in office and improve overall clinic operations
- Pull and analyze weekly metrics to present to the leadership team along with possible solutions to increase productivity and streamline operations
- Set clear performance expectations and goals for team members
- Hold weekly department meetings to discuss department metrics, share updates and gather input on operational improvements
- Address challenges within the team promptly and effectively
- Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and advancements in eyecare and present new ideas to the leadership team
Requirements:
- 5 years working in an optometry/ ophthalmology office
- Proficiency in using Crystal PM or similar electronic medical record systems
- Experience with specialty contact lenses preferred
- Experience with manual refraction preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish) speaker preferred
