What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Advocate position at Delaney Radiology?

The Patient Advocate is responsible for ensuring smooth patient transactions and providing excellent customer service. This is a full-time, in-office position.
Responsibilities:
- Review patient insurance and coverage details to verify eligibility
- Calculate and document cost estimates for MRI, CT, and surgical procedures based on patient insurance details and protocol
- Contact patients at least three days before their scheduled appointments to inform them of any payment requirements for the upcoming procedures, as well as any outstanding balances or collections
- Answer phone calls promptly and transfer calls when necessary
- Receive and process patient payments both over the phone and in person
- Ensure all payment transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled at the end of each business day
- Prepare the cash box with an adequate amount of change in preparation for the bank run weekly
- Other administrative tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of HIPAA, medical terminology, and health insurance
- One year of customer service experience, preferably in a medical or radiology setting
- Must possess strong communication skills, empathy, and patience
- Attention to detail and accuracy are essential in this position, as is a commitment to confidentiality.
