Title : Instructional Coach (2025-2026 School Year)

Reports to : Director of Secondary Operations

Work Schedule : 185-Day Full-Time Teacher Contract

Primary Job Function :

  • The Delaware Area Career Center Instructional Coach is responsible for building teacher capacity and their understanding of instructional practices. The DACC Instructional Coach is a learner who models continuous improvement, lifelong learning, and goes above and beyond to ensure student success. This job description is a comprehensive list of essential functions. Essential functions are job duties a staff member must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Valid Ohio teacher's license or certificate appropriate for the assignment
  • Experience with instructional technology
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience (career-technical teaching preferred)
  • Design :

  • Responsible for designing and coordinating processes for teachers who are new to DACC. This can include but is not limited to :
  • New teacher orientation
  • Monthly new teacher meetings
  • Training and coordinating mentors for new teachers
  • Working with the various support departments for teachers
  • Responsible for designing a variety of professional learning opportunities. This includes but is not limited to :
  • Working with the Director of Secondary Operations
  • Working with High School administrators
  • Oversee Professional Learning Communities work
  • Responsible for designing and coordinating staff development activities, including the Entry Year and mentor program
  • Responsible for utilizing best practices for designing engaging student work
  • Support :

  • Responsible for supporting teacher development
  • Responsible for supporting the new teacher induction activities
  • Responsible for supporting teachers' achievement of goals by using coaching strategies that gradually release responsibility for implementing instructional practices to the teacher
  • Responsible for supporting staff by serving as a thought partner by listening to staff and responding to their needs
  • Responsible for finding resources that support teachers social-emotional competency and emotional intelligence
  • Responsible for supporting a variety of instructional and professional development initiatives. This includes but is not limited to :
  • Local Professional Development Committee
  • Resident Educator mentor / Program coordinator
  • Responsible for supporting staff in the use of research-based instructional strategies, conditions of learning and assessment driven instruction
  • Technology & Data :

  • Responsible for working with staff and administration to analyze student data, diagnose instructional needs, and identify research-based strategies to close gaps
  • Responsible for training for staff and students in the use of instructional technology
  • Responsible for taking instructional technology training learned from vendors and train staff and students
  • Responsible for managing the instructional aspects of the district Learning Management System
  • Responsible for running reports, analyzing data and advising staff and students on how to best utilize instructional technology in order to master learning objectives
  • Implementation :

  • Responsible for monitoring the implementation of the district policies and procedures
  • Responsible for modeling the implementation of an effective lesson
  • Responsible for contributing to the development and implementation the district's continuous improvement plan
  • Responsible for preparing budget recommendations that enable the implementation of professional development objectives
  • Professional Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for upholding board policies and following administrative procedures
  • Responsible for maintaining visibility in the community and promoting a professional image of the school district
  • Responsible for developing a strategy to accomplish personal performance objectives within specified timelines
  • Responsible for observing established school hours
  • Responsible for enforcing applicable Ohio Revised Codes
  • Responsible for participating in professional growth opportunities.
  • Responsible for accepting personal responsibility for decisions and conduct.
  • Responsible for striving to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model for others
  • Responsible for keeping current with advances in technology and how it relates to specific job responsibilities
  • Responsible for respecting personal privacy and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Responsible for watching for student behavior that may include a problem and reporting those concerns to the appropriate administrator. This includes but is not limited to :
  • Profanity
  • Excessive teasing
  • Bullying
  • Distress
  • Responsible for wearing appropriate work attire and maintaining a neat appearance
  • Ensuring Student Safety :

  • Employees shall be expected to exercise reasonable care with respect to the safety of students and student property. Employees shall discharge their duties and responsibilities to students and property according to the applicable Laws, State guidelines and Board policies.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • Knowledge of adult learning theories
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learner
  • Knowledge of FERPA, IDEA and HIPPA
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local policies related to students
  • Knowledge of child development, instructional strategies and practices applicable to assignment
  • Knowledge of existing and emerging education and instructional technologies and software
  • Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies and models for improving instructional practices
  • Knowledge of data collection and analysis; ability to assist teachers with making data driven instructional decisions
  • Knowledge of behavior and classroom management techniques
  • Knowledge of all DACC adopted software
  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Skilled at effective verbal and written communication
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Skilled in collaboration and decision-making, seeking consensus whenever possible
  • Skilled in conflict resolution
  • Skilled at developing rapport and interacting effectively with students and staff
  • Ability to utilize equitable teaching practices
  • Ability to implement technology with students utilizing data and reports aligned to instructional best practices
  • Ability to perform oral reading to students individually or in groups.
  • Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to handle behavioral and emotionally charged situations in a calm and effective manner
  • Ability to work with students to provide feedback, maintain an orderly atmosphere, and foster a safe and healthy school environment
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and emotional stability
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to assist students with various physical and intellectual needs
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and write reports and logs
  • Ability to "think outside the box"
  • Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
  • Ability to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Ability to promote positive staff morale
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints

  • Working at heights, in confined spaces, or under diminished / variable lighting.
