What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk/Medical Scheduler position at Delaware Center for Maternal and Fetal Medicine?
Duties and Responsibility's:
- Promptly and professionally answers telephone calls. Routes calls appropriately, offering voice mail or redirection of calls as needed
- Sorting and uploading faxed documents appropriately as assigned.
- Utilizes effective customer service skills to greet patients and visitors arriving to the practice
- Ability to effectively communicate using proper grammar, spelling and punctuation
- Promptly notifies employees of visitors and directs them to appropriate waiting areas
- Schedules appointments for patients by phone and in person at the front desk.
- Ensures notes are entered and color coding is used based on the type of visit.
- Maintains scheduling system for accurate and complete records
- Making other staff members aware of any changes to schedule in a timely manner
- Explains financial requirements to the patients and/or responsible parties
- Able to process credit cards payments through a web enabled program and balance out the batch at the end of the business day
- Collects co-pays and/or deductibles, post payments to patient accounts, and balances cash drawer to the day sheet payment report. Informs patient of any additional financial responsibilities due to additional services. Documents patient financial information directly onto the patients account when necessary
- Ability to use sound independent judgment and self-supervise

- Maintains an excellent understanding of the eClinical Works scheduling and billing system

Experience:
- Minimum of two years’ experience in customer service in a healthcare setting
- Prior Electronic Health Records experience preferred
- Ability to operate computers, and general office equipment (copier, fax, scanner), and multi-line telephones
