What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Director/Theatre Manager position at Delaware County Christian School?
DC is accepting applications for a full-time Technical Director/Theatre Manager. DC's mission is to graduate students prepared to impact the world through biblical thought and action. We are seeking a Technical Director/Theatre Manager who feels a calling to work, lead and train in a Christian school environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts or a related field
Minimum of 3 years work experience
Technical Director
- Oversees all use of the sound/lighting equipment in the tech booth
- Demonstrates expertise in both sound reinforcement and lighting design
- Trains all students and faculty who run sound or lighting
- Schedules/assigns operators for events
- Oversees and arranges technical support for all scheduling in the Auditorium with Facilities and Rental Coordinators (chapels, performances, concerts, events, etc.)
- Maintains/repairs equipment
- Works with all outside rentals to assess the needs, time frames, personnel and schedules
necessary. Coordinates with DC activities so both are adequately supported.
- Provides regular student training for various tech roles – (in technical theatre class, SAIL class, and/or as an after-school club)
-Supervises students involved in Tech reinforcement
Note: Must be present for all events both during the school day and after-school/weekends (or ensure there is another trained adult to supervise any time Tech is needed). Scheduled hours will flex accordingly.
Theatre Manager
- Ensures all set-up, maintenance, and cleaning is handled for events
- Coordinates tear-down and re-set of auditorium after events
- Ensures there is adequate supervision at every activity in the auditorium
- Oversees use of auditorium equipment
- Tracks tools, tech equipment, etc that are used on lower campus or other parts of campus (ensures they are used properly and returned to their correct storage location)
Front of House Manager
- Oversees ticket sales, ushers, and other public relations people for all public events
Carpentry/Set Design
- May function as set designer/head carpenter or facilitates builders for stage productions
- Supervises student builders (or schedules adults who will train/work with students)
- Purchases and acquires tools and supplies needed for building
Other Miscellaneous jobs
Keeps backstage, loft, scene shop and other spaces organized
Supports Facilities with large events (e.g. - All school chapels, Commencement, Grandparents Day, 5k Fundraiser, Homecoming, Field Day, Arts Recognition Night, MS/US Art Shows, etc.)
Schedules regular maintenance
Teaches (or team teaches) a Stagecraft class, to include set design, lighting, sound, costumes, prop design, hair and makeup. Familiar enough to introduce most of the elements and facilitate outside specialists to help train.
Note: position may involve lifting/moving heavy equipment (e.g. - speakers)
