Delaware County Community College (DCCC), located outside of the Philadelphia Metro area, is looking for a dedicated Director of Culinary Arts Program to join our team of higher education professionals who are committed to student success. The Director, Culinary Arts Program is responsible for the academic and administrative oversight and management of Delaware County Community College’s (DCCC) culinary arts program. Academically, this position will teach 2-3 courses per year, design and develop curriculum, and have a thorough understanding of competency-based education, diverse learning styles, classroom technologies, and distance learning. Administratively, this position will staff and schedule professionals for the culinary arts classes, implement and execute all purchasing practices, actively recruit new students into the program, develop external partners and relationships, and provide service to the community. The position requires the oversight of locations in both Delaware and Chester Counties. The position will also require the engagement and oversight of the culinary facilities at DCCC’s new Southeast Center. The Director, Culinary Arts Program has internal contacts with the entire academic & administrative staff, college leadership / management, and external contact with vendors, business partners, and the general community. This position has access to sensitive DCCC financial and employee information and is expected to handle such information with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. The Director, Culinary Arts Program reports directly to the Dean of Business, Computing, and Social Science and supervise assigned staff.Staff and schedule qualified faculty for established class times.Establish inventory control and purchasing practices and execute those practices each week for the labs to ensure adequate resources for learning and student success.Participate in the development of a program budget and adhere to departmental budget through program management.Program curriculum design and development.Assess and improve student learning and success.Advisement and retention of students.Provide direct instruction to students in an applied environment and the classroom.Adheres to all food safety and sanitation guidelines as outlined by the National Restaurant Association and other local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.Establish and maintain presence and relationship in the community with industry practitioners, associations, and organizations.Establish and maintain presence and relationship in the community with individual and group programming.Establish and maintain presence with local high schools.Establish and maintain College presence at events such as open houses, orientation programs, campus events, and community service events.Active participation with division and college committees.Participate in interactive, on-site meetings during normal business hours and on a regular basis, regular on-site Culinary Center office hours.Maintain regular attendance per established work schedule.Performs other duties as assigned.The successful candidate must be an engaging, effective, innovative, dynamic leader who is strategic and fosters collaboration. This individual will be able to demonstrate the use of best practice strategies associated with the development and management of a culinary arts program. This individual will demonstrate a spirit of an independent problem-solver and decision-maker with a strong understanding of the College’s mission and goals. The Director will have a demonstrated ability to encourage, model, embrace, and incorporate diverse thought and perspective of all individuals of various backgrounds, ideas, and perspectives to foster an all-inclusive environment and drive results.Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5 years’ work experience in a culinary leadership capacity or in a food management capacity with hands-on culinary experience. Teaching experience (in culinary or related discipline) at the community college level or equivalent teaching experience is preferred (3 years minimum). A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry, Food Management or Hospitality management (with an emphasis in foods OR work history in food management); Master’s degree preferred. American Culinary Federation (ACF) (preferred) or other related professional organization. Must also be SERV Safe Certified.
