Caseworker/Caseworker Trainee – Social Services
We are seeking a motivated and team-oriented individual for this challenging role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interview clients, family members, and others to gather information about their economic situation, emotional state, social relationships, personal characteristics, education, and employment history.
- Review existing case records and consult with agency staff to obtain additional background information.
- Consult with other service agencies involved with clients and their families.
- Evaluate available information and identify the need for services.
- Develop a service plan to meet the needs of the client and their family.
- Collaborate with supervisors to ensure the appropriateness of the service plan.
- Discuss relevant aspects of the service plan with the client and family and establish a relationship to encourage cooperation and participation.
- Provide counseling to motivate clients and their families and increase their capacity and confidence in handling problems.
- Work closely with other staff members and service providers to carry out the service plan.
- Monitor progress and conduct regular case reviews to determine the effectiveness of the service plan and identify areas for modification or addition.
- Recommend the best type of foster care for children in need.
- Work with the child's family to return them home as soon as possible.
- Investigate cases of child abuse and neglect.
- Prepare detailed records and reports.
- Operate a computer to enter and retrieve information.
- May testify in court or administrative hearings.
- Responsible for on-call coverage at night and weekends to handle social service emergencies.
