What are the responsibilities and job description for the EHS/HS Instructional/Nutrition Assistant position at Delaware County Intermediate Unit?
The job of Instructional/Nutrition Assistant is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for working with individual and/or small groups of students; and providing instructional support to teachers, food service activities at assigned location with specific responsibilities for preparing and serving food items to students and/or school personnel; and maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition
Essential Functions
- Arranges food and beverage items for the purpose of providing meals to students and staff in an efficient manner.
- Assists teachers with meal service for the purpose of modeling proper family style eating techniques and accurately documenting meal count data.
- Cleans and sanitizes utensils, equipment, and operational areas (e.g. storage, food preparation, serving,etc.) for the purpose of maintaining required sanitary conditions in accordance to rules and regulations.
- Completes required documentation (e.g. Nutrition 6 forms and Food Allergy forms, etc.) for the purpose of using data to identify the nutritional needs of each child and qualifying children for free, reduced or paid meals.
- Completes meal count data after children receives a portion of all meal items for the purpose of complying with CACFP regulations and point of service guidelines.
- Conducts classroom activities on nutrition for the purpose of educating children and promoting healthy nutritional habits.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
ServSafe Certification preferred
Job related experience is desired
