Job Summary
The Delaware County Intermediate Unit is seeking a highly qualified Service Coordinator to serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative for DCIU Early Intervention programs and services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in special education and excellent communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and community resources to deliver relevant and appropriate services to students.
- Facilitate and participate in the development of written materials, such as evaluation reports and individual education programs, to ensure compliance with established timelines.
- Maintain current knowledge of early childhood education best practices, special education methodologies, evaluation instruments, and assessment techniques to apply to early intervention services.
- Stay up-to-date on state and federal special education regulations, including accessing basic education circulars and OCDEL announcements, to ensure compliance.
- Manage a student caseload to ensure all services on the IEP are delivered within timelines.
- Respond to inquiries from various sources, resolving issues, providing information, and/or direction.
- Support classroom teachers, families, and staff members in the ER/IEP process.
- Understand services for various disabilities, placement options, and children in the transition process to ensure student access to IEP services.
- Advise parents and/or legal guardians to help families access community educational resources and medical assistance.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with teachers, therapists, and agencies to meet the needs of eligible preschoolers.
- Participate in various meetings to convey and/or gather information required to perform functions.
- Participate in data collection for ACCESS reimbursement.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
