What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher - Emotional Support position at Delaware County Intermediate Unit?
The job of Teacher - Special Education was established for the purpose/s of providing an appropriate individualized program in the least restrictive environment for each student to support the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for developing special education students' success in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.
Minimum requirements:
- Valid PA teaching certificate in Special Education.
- Dual certification in special education and content area(s) preferred.
- Ability to work effectively and regularly with a computer and computer programs.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and team-building skills.
- Possess strong organizational skills.
- Ability to function independently.
- Flexible and reliable.
- Experience working with students who receive emotional support services is preferred.
