What are the responsibilities and job description for the Painter Maintenance Worker position at Delaware, County of (OH)?
Individual is responsible for prepping and painting surfaces as well as assisting with maintenance and building and grounds. Individual reports to Maintenance Supervisor/Designee.High School diploma or GED, vocational training or related work experience.
Must meet and maintain qualifications for driving on county business as a continued condition of employment.

- Applies finishes such as wallcoverings, latex and oil, base paints, varnishes, stains, urethanes, and epoxies for both interior and exterior locations;
- Fills cracks, holes, or joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives;
- Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting;
- Mix and match colors of paint, stain, or varnish with oil or thinning and drying additives to obtain desired colors and consistencies;
- Adheres to all federal, state, and local regulations when disposing of unneeded paint and/or other chemicals;
- Calculates amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements or work orders;
- Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations, and sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly;
- Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or using water or abrasive blasting;
- Remove fixtures such as pictures, door knobs, lamps, or electric switch covers prior to painting;
- Utilizes skills in prepping surfaces by washing, power spraying, sanding, grinding, and chemical stripping;
- Performs miscellaneous projects utilizing hand tools and safety equipment;
- Maintains painting supply inventory;
- Assists Maintenance and Building & Grounds crews with various projects as needed;
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance;
- Attends various training sessions, video conferences, and workshops;
- Performs typing, word processing, and related computer operations;
- Works overtime and outside of typical work schedule/business hours as required; and
- Other duties as assigned.
