Summary Statement

The Network Operations Center Specialist is responsible for:

  • Issue recognition, initial diagnosis, troubleshooting, and tracking of IT system, data center, and facilities incidents across theenterprise.
  • Taking corrective actions based on established procedures, or at the direction of technical staff, with the goal of minimizing downtime and impact to services.
  • Timelyescalationofproblemsandincidentstodesignatedsupportstaffandmanagement;aswellasreportingincident statuses and resolution activity progress in the appropriate applications.
  • Understanding and executing the DTI Incident, Request, and Change Management processes and procedures. Performingoperationalsupportdutiessuchasmonitoring,batchjobscheduling,tapemanagement,remote/smarthands services and service desk support.
  • Ensuring the physical security of the DTI sites by managing approved visitors & vendors.
  • Maintaining a robust and accurate knowledgebase repository, including writing and editing operational procedures. Preparing accurate reports and logs detailing work activities.
  • Professionalandeffectiveinteractionswithcustomers, t echnicalstaff,andmanagement.
  • Providing training to operational staff, as required.
  • Performingotherduties,as assigned.


Selective Requirement

Selective Requirements must be met in addition to the job requirements. Applicants who do not possess the selective requirement will not be qualified.

  • Applicant must possess a high school diploma or GED.


Preferred Qualification

Applicantswhodonotpossessthepreferredqualificationwillstillbeeligibletocompeteforthispositionifjobrequirementsare met.

  • PossessanAssociateDegreeorhigherinInformationTechnology,relatedfield,ORequivalentworkexperience.
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience reporting incident status and resolution activities, taking corrective actions basedonestablishedprocedures,escalatingissuestotechnicalsupport,andcommunicatingwithvariouslevelsof management.
  • Possess technical training or industry certifications such as A , Network , CCNA, etc.


Job Requirements

Applicantsmusthaveeducation,trainingand/orexperiencedemonstratingcompetenceineach of the following areas:

  • Possessaminimumof1yearofexperiencewiththecomponentsandoperationoflarge-scaledatacentersand/orIT systems,includingnetworks,servers,mainframes,peripheraldevicesanddatacenterfacilityinfrastructure.
  • Possessaminimumof1yearofexperiencewithdesktopsoftware,ITsystemandnetworkmonitoringtools,tickettracking processesandapplications,jobschedulingandtapemanagementsubsystems,anddatacentermanagementsystems.
  • Possessaminimumof1yearofexperienceoperatingandmonitoringlargescaledatacentersand/orITsystems,including networks,datacabling,servers,mainframes,peripherals,physicalsecurity,environmentalcontrolsystems,anddata center facility infrastructure.
  • Possessgoodcommunication(verbalandwritten)andpresentation skills.
  • Able to work occasional overtime, if necessary, to cover absences on other shifts, including weekends and holidays.


Conditions of Hire

Criminal background check: A satisfactory fingerprint based criminal background check administered by the Delaware State Police is required as a Condition of Hire.
