A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SUBSTATION & SYSTEM PROTECTION SUPERVISOR
The Substation & System Protection Supervisor will have the responsibility for supervising system improvements to optimize existing Transmission and Substation Systems, and to assist in the design of future systems to meet optimum economic efficiency. Assist in the development of capital projects that save energy on the entire electrical system by looking for cost effective construction projects that save losses. Prioritize types of projects that exist on the system such that the most cost effective will be implemented first. Responsibility to supervise assigned employees, substation improvements, substation and line equipment maintenance, and Protective Relay Systems.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SUBSTATION & SYSTEM PROTECTION SUPERVISOR

Education: Graduation from a four (4) year course at an accredited college with a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering with the power option, or significant experience in field.
Experience: Minimum ten (10) years of related energy efficiency engineering and energy audits experience. Including the installation and maintenance of highly technical equipment and systems including protective relays, load management and SCADA.
Knowledge: Must have a thorough working knowledge of electric utility functioning, troubleshooting methods and electronic equipment operation.
