The opportunity
Delaware North Parks and Resorts is hiring part-time Educators to join our team at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Florida. As an Educator, you will be responsible for assisting with delivering instructional, educational programs related to NASAs space exploration program and other STEM-themed programs and initiatives. This position requires you to be available to work 3-5 shifts per week, including a weekend day. The hours can range from early morning to late evening.

What will you do?
- Assist with delivering education programs and camps.
- Supervise participants in a safe learning environment.
- Operate simulation software, virtual reality equipment, and motion-based simulators in a safe learning environment.
- Have active knowledge of Kennedy Space Center and NASA’s space exploration program.
- Preparing materials and education supplies for camp activities.
- Working with children between the ages of 7- 17 years old.
- You may be regularly required to drive yourself to a remote work location where public transportation is not available and you will be asked to show NASA credentials for entry.
More about you
- Must be 18 years old to apply.
- Education in a related subject, education, science, or communication preferred. A combination of degree and practical experience will be considered.
- Teaching experience in a traditional or non-traditional education program.
- Excellent communications and organization skills.
- Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
- Prior knowledge and interest in Kennedy Space Center and NASA’s space program.
- Experience with working with groups of children.
- Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation to and from work.
Physical requirements
- Able to stand for long periods of time including bending, lifting, reaching, and stretching and lift 30lbs or more.
- Includes indoor and outdoor work environments in a hot climate.
- Must be willing to work with chemicals for programs.
- Must be able to operate simulators with heavy moving parts.
