What are the responsibilities and job description for the Racing Official (Seasonal FT) position at Delaware Park Casino & Racing?
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creates and ensures a fun-filled, entertaining and exciting environment where the flawless delivery and execution of service excellence is paramount.
Responsible to perform the job responsibilities of the following positions, as needed: Paddock Judge, Horse Identification, Clerk of Sales and Claims Clerk.
Responsible for administering racing office general responsibilities i.e. take entries, scratches, etc.
Post numbers during running of races.
Determine the order of finish.
Post the numbers of the first four horses on the tote board.
Provide the Horsemen’s Bookkeeper with a copy of the official placement of horses with the names of the first five (5) horses finishing each race.
Proofread official program.
Draws post positions for races.
Administer condition book and overnight.
Responsible to administer correct procedures for all claims.
Responsible to administer stake nominations.
Assists the Assistance Racing Secretary on weights and eligibility.
Maintain professionalism at all times when working with and responding to team members and/or guests.
Communicate (both written and verbal) with and promote positive team member and guest relations.
Perform other related duties as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Extensive knowledge of Thoroughbred Racing Industry and the Rules and Regulations of Delaware Racing Commission.
Must be able to successfully complete the background check require.
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Word Applications.
Must have strong organizational skills and clerical background, required.
Attention to detail and high level of energy required.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and effectively communicate with guests, team members and management is mandatory.
Must be able to handle all types of team member/guest related situations; relay all team member/guest compliments and complaints to department management.
Must be able to stand, sit, walk, and bend for extended periods of time without difficulty.
Work areas could have high volumes, diverse clientele, noise, music, minimal and/or bright lighting and variation of climate control.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on business needs which includes days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
