The Air Tractor Simulator Maintenance Technician is responsible for the routine maintenance, repair, and calibration of the Air Tractor Simulation Systems. This role ensures that the simulator operates at optimal performance, delivering realistic and reliable training environments for pilots and technical staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical acumen in electronic systems, simulation hardware, and software troubleshooting. The successful candidate will apply comprehensive knowledge and experience to maintain and/or solve complex or system problems associated with the Air Tractor Aircrew Training System Device(s).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide device power-up and shut down, daily readiness checks, assisting/building missions and training scenarios, assisting students and instructors in operating devices during training, and supporting user-directed activities such as investigations, test and demonstrations, tours, etc.

Diagnose and resolve malfunctions, hardware issues, and software issues promptly to minimize downtime.

Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems, those typically solved by properly interpreting maintenance manuals or similar documents.

Receives limited technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician and work is reviewed for specific compliance with accepted practices and work assignments.

Provides technical guidance to Simulator Technician I’s.

Capable of interpreting and working with computer systems utilizing various and multiple operating systems.

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues using diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and schematics.
-
Maintains required documentation of maintenance activities.
-
Monitors and tracks the repair status of inoperative equipment and documents maintenance activities utilizing the logistics mana. Documenting maintenance activities includes but is not limited to work order generation and updates, repair action documentation, issuing, returning, and adjusting inventory, ensuring inventory records are up to date and accurate, and other material control duties as assigned.

Diagnoses malfunctions of computers and associated equipment and performs operability/readiness tests and repair.

Performs systems interface/fault isolation.

Applies fundamental troubleshooting procedures in the maintenance of interfaces and peripheral equipment used with computers.

Interprets mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic schematics and drawings and makes simplified versions.

Conducts voice communications on phone, inter-phone, and radio circuits.

Provides networking and information systems support on training devices and networks.

Implements basic modifications to existing simulators.
-
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent and completion of a civilian or military basic electronic program.

Must meet the minimum education, experience, and qualifications of a Simulator Technician I.
-
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
-
Related skill areas should include technical writing and presentation skills.
-
Must be skilled at the use and operation of test equipment, including “O” scopes, frequency counters, volt/ohm meters, and range calibration sets.
-
Must be proficient in the use of diagnostic programs, interpretation of results, and use of program listings to isolate faults.
-
Must be able to perform routine preventive maintenance using maintenance requirement cards and instructional manuals; perform daily system readiness test, pre-operational and post-operational checkouts.

Must be proficient in the use and operation of test equipment to perform a pre-and post-operational test on installed equipment to perform preventive maintenance using preventative maintenance cards and instruction books.

Must possess skills to perform calibrations, adjustments, and tests on electronic equipment; analyze operation, verify discrepancies, isolate malfunctions, and replace defective components used in installed devices

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required

Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Must be able to work overtime as required.

Must be willing to work any shift or day of the week as required.

Must be eligible for DoD Personnel Security Clearance.
