What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weighmaster I position at Delaware Solid Waste Authority?
DSWA is seeking to fill a Full Time Weighmaster position at the Route 5 Transfer Station (RT5) located in Harbeson, DE. This position includes a benefit package with State of DE Pension, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and other benefits. This is an on site position and the work cannot be done from a remote location. The starting payrate for this position is $16.54 per hour. Current DSWA employees can apply via the ADP Internal Job Board.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to operate the weigh system scales at Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) facilities in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures established by DSWA. The position will require working a rotating schedule including some Saturdays and holidays and filling in for other full time or part time weighmasters when needed and at other DSWA facilities when necessary. The requirement to fill in may result in working multiple shifts at various locations during the work week and may result in overtime hours. The position may range from a minimum of 15 hours per week to overtime as needed. The requirement to fill in may come with short notice as directed by the Supervisor and as facility needs warrant.
Job Duties:
- Question facility users and visually inspect vehicles to insure compliance with DSWA policies and regulations.
- Weigh incoming and outbound vehicles by operating computer and truck scales located at facilities and conducts monetary transaction.
- Determine waste, product, or material classification and destination, and computes charges.
- Direct users and controls traffic flow into and out of the facility.
- Provide information and assistance regarding rules, regulations and operating procedures to licensed public collectors, contractors and private citizens using the facility.
- Conduct daily opening and closeout procedures to reconcile monetary transactions received each day.
- Open and close scalehouse to ensure the security of scalehouse.
- Maintain records and logs of facility and weighing activity as required.
- Answer phones and provides information and assistance regarding rules, regulations and procedures to the public, contractors and haulers.
Additional Duties:
- Maintain equipment related to scalehouse operations as instructed.
- Accept bill payments and makes deposits.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; weighmaster licensure eligible at the time of employment; ability to communicate effectively orally and in a courteous manner; ability to perform basic math skills; basic knowledge of office equipment including computers, weights and scales.
