General Description of the Position
Reporting to the Department Chair, the Assistant Professor for the Social Work Program is a full time 9-month Tenure Track Faculty Position. The Assistant Professor of Social Work will be responsible for the primary task of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses offered in the Department of Social Work. The qualified candidate will be adaptable and capable of teaching a variety of courses, both online and in-person, within the department. It will also be expected for the candidate to serve on committees, and participate in official activities on the Department, College, and University levels.

Essential Functions
The following are the functions essential to performing this job.
1. Develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and online instruction, across the BSW and MSW curriculum as assigned from the Dean of the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, Department Chairperson and Department Program Directors.
2. Maintain office hours to advise students on curriculum and career planning.
3. Participate in University / College / Department / Professional activities.
4. Participate in social work curriculum development and CSWE program reaffirmation process.
5. Participate in syllabi development and revision of the content in course syllabi.
6. Actively engage in scholarly activities that expand the profession's knowledge of practice and social work education.
7. Demonstrate and maintain professional competence and knowledge of subject matter pertinent to specialization area(s) and social work practice.
8. Conform to standards of the University's Collective Bargaining Agreement and Department bylaws
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
1. Ability to understand and model the function of social work education in a postmodern world
2. Ability to groom and train a new generation of students on issues of social justice
3. Emphasis in rural social work
4. Ability to work in a diverse environment
5. Collegiality
6. Ability to perform other functions as assigned.
Qualification Standards
1. Education : MSW and Ph.D. or DSW degree (will consider ABD).
2. Successful experience : Minimum of two (2) years Post MSW practice experience. Teaching experience, a plus (both online and face-to-face formats).
3. Experience using a learning management system for teaching web-enhanced and online courses preferred.
