General Description of the Position
The Marketing and Engagement Coordinator will play a pivotal role in elevating the mission and vision of the Early Childhood Innovation Center (ECIC) at Delaware State University, bringing fresh and innovative communication strategies to life. Reporting directly to the Operations Officer, this individual will be responsible for creating and sharing the compelling narratives of the ECIC through strategic communication and marketing efforts. The coordinator will create and implement dynamic, ECIC-branded marketing strategies that amplify the organization’s programs, build both internal and external awareness, and engage key stakeholders in support of the ECIC’s forward-thinking goals.
As the primary communications and marketing lead, the coordinator will ensure the ECIC’s voice and brand integrity are maintained across all communication channels. This will involve building and managing social media platforms, crafting internal and external publications, and overseeing various marketing initiatives. The Marketing and Engagement Coordinator will be a hands-on professional, utilizing strong project management and writing capabilities to execute the ECIC’s vision and elevate its presence both on and off campus. The coordinator will actively collaborate with internal teams and external partners to create a cohesive, consistent narrative for the ECIC, ensuring all communications align with the organization’s strategic objectives.
Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Essential Functions
- Lead the design and production of marketing materials, collaborating with vendors to ensure high-quality, branded content.
- Oversee marketing material inventory with the support of administrative staff, ensuring timely reorders and availability for events and initiatives.
- Manage a content calendar using project management software to plan and execute social media campaigns across platforms.
- Develop and curate multimedia content, including promotional videos, interviews, event recaps, infographics, social media posts, charts and visual data presentations, email content with images and links, voiceovers for videos, interactive media, and surveys, to engage a wide range of audiences and strengthen the ECIC’s brand presence and awareness.
- Research and propose innovative social media strategies, leveraging metrics, and industry trends to improve engagement.
- Create and issue quarterly ECIC newsletters, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with the ECIC’s strategic goals.
- Develop and execute email marketing campaigns using platforms such as MailChimp or Constant Contact to support the ECIC’s initiatives.
- Serve as the lead planner for all ECIC-sponsored events, prioritizing preplanning across logistics, run of show, materials, and communication to ensure smooth execution and high-quality outcomes from inception to completion.
- Regularly update and maintain website content to ensure it reflects the ECIC’s programs and goals.
- Implement advanced Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies to improve search engine visibility and site performance.
- Analyze website metrics and make data-driven recommendations to enhance user engagement.
- Partner with Delaware State University’s public relations and marketing departments to ensure cohesive messaging and alignment with university-wide branding strategies.
- Collaborate closely with the ECIC’s dedicated data specialist to utilize marketing, communications, and engagement data points. Translate insights into actionable strategies that enhance the effectiveness of campaigns and align with organizational goals.
- Serve as the lead for all communications objectives tied to the ECIC’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the center’s mission and long-term goals.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive marketing and engagement strategies that enhance visibility, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and maximize the impact of ECIC initiative
- Strong understanding of marketing principles and best practices, especially in the digital landscape (social media, email campaigns, etc.).
- Demonstrated expertise in creating video content, conducting interviews, and developing press releases, white papers, and opinion editorials (op-eds).
- Proficiency in crafting compelling narratives that align with the ECIC’s goals and effectively communicate the organization’s mission.
- Ability to utilize data-driven insights to inform content strategies and ensure consistency in messaging across multiple platforms.
- Strong ability to adapt to emerging trends and technologies in marketing and communications to effectively engage diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of current design trends and proficiency with graphic design tools.
- Familiarity with website Content Management Systems (CMS) and email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact and MailChimp.
- Experience with analytics tools to track performance and optimize strategies.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- High attention to detail and ability to ensure brand consistency across/awareness all marketing materials.
Qualification Standards
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience of at least 5 years in marketing, communications, or a similar role, can be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with website Content Management Systems (CMS) and email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact, MailChimp, or others.
- Experience in WordPress for website management is preferred.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
