Position Specific Details :
Provide instruction for the following courses : Vector Graphics (VSC 161). Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday from 3 : 30 PM – 5 : 50 PM or Tuesday and Thursday from 6 : 00 PM – 8 : 20 PM.
Summary Statement : An incumbent is responsible for implementing curricula, instructing assigned courses consistent with syllabi, evaluating student learning, and fostering student success.
Nature and Scope : An incumbent typically reports to the Dean of Instruction through an Instructional Director, Department Chairperson, or Program Coordinator. An incumbent is expected to plan, organize, and instruct in a manner that promotes successful student learning in keeping with the College’s values and goals.
Principal Accountabilities :
- Plan, organize, and instruct courses as assigned by the Department Chairperson / supervisor, utilizing effective and engaging instructional strategies, the learning management system (LMS), appropriate communication, classroom management, leadership skills, and instructional / educational technology to promote student success.
- Demonstrate sound practices in instruction and classroom management that respond to students’ diverse academic needs.
- Follow the prescribed course outline and use texts selected by the department plus other supplemental material deemed appropriate by the Department Chairperson.
- Provide instruction according to the class meeting schedule and instructional hours established for the session and delivery method (face-to-face, hybrid, web-enhanced, or online). Notify the Department Chairperson of the necessity of canceling any class meeting prior to the class or in emergencies as soon thereafter as possible.
- Assist students toward the successful completion of course(s) by providing outreach, guidance, and timely feedback.
- Make oneself accessible and available to answer students’ questions in a timely manner.
- Adhere to College policies and procedures relating to employment, academic matters, student behavior, and the Academic Calendar. Maintain adequate and timely student records (e.g. grades posted in the LMS). Evaluate and report students’ progress and attendance in a timely manner.
- Encourage students’ completion of the course evaluation form, review course evaluation summaries, and develop a plan for improvement, as appropriate.
- Attend and participate in various College meetings for the purpose of orientation, professional development, or other departmental or operational activity as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Four (4) years of relevant experience.
