Operations Work Leader 2nd Shift
The overall purpose of this position is to provide a high level of leadership and direction within night operations. The Work Leader will work with the 2nd shift Operations Supervisors to ensure timely and accurate processing of loose-pick and botanical orders, provide the proper training, tools and communication for employees to meet or exceed departmental and individual goals, and continually identify opportunities for process improvement.
Essential Functions:

This is a full-time hourly position. This position operates on a schedule supporting Fresh Flowers and Botanicals working Sunday-Thursday second shift with additional hours/days needed during peak seasons.
Picking:
- Work with pickers to minimize/eliminate picking errors and improve order accuracy.
- Ensure proper procedures for product rotation are being followed consistently.
- Monitor open pick tickets to ensure on-time departures.
- Monitor and manage daily Fresh Flower and Botanical volume, and adjust staff accordingly.
- Work with Central Desk to ensure order fulfillment.
Packing:
- Monitor and manage daily Fresh Flower and Botanical packing volume, and adjust staff accordingly.
- Work with S&CR to ensure order fulfillment.
- Ensure proper procedures are followed in dry packing, procona (buckets) and botanical packing to eliminate damaged/returned product.
Replenishing:
- Monitor and manage daily Fresh Flower replenishment, the unboxing of Botanical product and adjust staff accordingly.
- Perform cooler, botanical and greenhouse sweeps with the goal of identifying any misplaced or unidentified products.
Checking:
- Monitor and manage daily Checking and adjust staff accordingly.
- Ensure product receives final checks/approvals before packed, eliminating any damaged/returned product.
Material Handling:
- Monitor and manage daily Material handling staff accordingly.
- Ensure product is scanned, sorted, and palletized accurately to ensure end customer receives correct product.
- Adjust staff according to volume to ensure conveyors run continuously and breakdown area does not back up.
- Audit pallets for accuracy to catch any sort errors prior to loading on line hauls
Work Environment:
This position operates in a warehouse, greenhouse, and cooler environment (34 degrees). The employee will utilize warehouse equipment such as Pallet Jacks, RF scanners, and box cutters.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and read. This position is very active and requires standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching. The employee must frequently lift/and or move items up to 50 pounds. The employee will also wear and use a scanning device on their wrist. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years warehouse experience, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong leadership, team building and motivational skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Products (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Apprise
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively to large groups of people
- Strong team building, motivational, and planning skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
- Ability to successfully manage within deadlines, prioritize and set goals to achieve department and company objectives
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to multi-task
- Demonstrated ability to drive, participate in, and adapt to change in a positive manner
- Working with or handling fresh flowers (or other perishables)
