Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure a seamless transition of youth from the residential program to the Learning Center each morning.
- Assist teachers in small groups or 1:1 activities that engage students in learning activities, as directed by the certified teacher.
- Interact with students within learning activities and provide proactive positive reinforcement and behavioral strategies.
- Submit all documents in a clear, concise, and timely manner through the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Implement behavioral plans and collect data using appropriate logs and documentation through the EHR.
- Ensure students have unfinished work or homework to complete during study time.
- May be requested to attend Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings or provide information concerning student progress.
- Intervene with students who need to leave class for behavioral reasons.
- MEDIATE interpersonal conflicts between students.
- Build therapeutic relationships with youth to implement programming components within their individual treatment plan and IEP.
- Teach youth to manage their own behavior, building internal assets through boundaries, guidelines, roles, and rules.
- Use Physical Management Techniques (PMT) to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Work cooperatively with teachers, staff, and administrators to foster therapeutic and academic goals.
- Attend all required professional development training and staff meetings.
