What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Civil Engineer position at Delectus, LLC?
We seek Senior Transportation Engineers for our San Diego, CA office(s). Under the guidance of project managers and group leaders, you will provide direction and oversight on various civil engineering tasks, leading projects from initial concept through final design and construction. You will exercise independent judgment while working closely with a team of assistant and associate-level engineers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Execute engineering tasks for the planning, design, and construction of transportation projects.
- Oversee detailed roadway designs, design calculations, technical reports, and Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E) for transportation facilities.
- Coordinate with internal disciplines, utility companies, sub-consultants, resource agencies, and clients.
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitor project progress and manage budgets/expenditures.
- Perform quality control and establish best management practices (BMPs) for engineering work products.
- Direct and mentor engineering associates, assistant engineers, technicians, and interns.
- Support marketing and proposal efforts.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain a reciprocal license within 6 months).
- 10 years of experience working on transportation projects post-graduation.
- Valid [State] driver’s license.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven success in delivering PS&E bid packages for transportation projects.
- Strong understanding of multi-disciplinary team coordination, design/construction documentation, and local agency & DOT design standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transportation design software, including Civil 3D, MicroStation, or AutoCAD.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality work and exceptional client service.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
- Regular use of a telephone, computer, and email system.
- Close, distance, and peripheral vision with depth perception and focus adjustment.
- Mostly indoor work; occasional outdoor field visits.
- Occasionally required to wear protective gear (e.g., hard hat, safety vest).
- Possible travel to project sites by automobile and/or airplane.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Annual salary range: $150,000 - $205,000 (commensurate with qualifications and experience).
