What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Concrete Flat Work Technician position at DeLeers Construction?
DeLeers Construction is adding to our Concrete Team! With over 80 years in business, we specialize in building high end residential homes and commercial buildings. We work with clients from design through construction, which includes pouring our own concrete (flatwork only).
Our Concrete teams are responsible for smoothing, leveling, and finishing freshly poured cement. They can also be responsible for ensuring concrete molds are setup properly or applying any necessary chemicals to harden and seal poured concrete. We currently have an opening for someone experienced with pouring concrete flatwork, particularly in a residential setting. Must have 3-5 years of experience to be considered. All of our work is in the state of Wisconsin, and some upper Michigan with minimal overnights. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and arrange forms for pouring concrete, and dismantle forms after use, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts.
- Shovel, pour, and spread concrete.
- Grind or scrape concrete using abrasive tools or machines.
- Anchor or brace wooden structures, frameworks, or forms.
- Dig holes for foundations, posts, poles, or related items.
- Install insulating materials.
- Load, unload, or stack containers, materials, or products.
- Mix mortar, grout, slurry, concrete, or related masonry material.
- Move materials or goods between work areas by hand.
- Prepare surfaces for sealants, foam or adhesives.
- Prepare site or surfaces for concrete work.
- Inspect forms for problems or defects.
- Finish edges by hand as needed.
- Clean tools and make sure all equipment is in good working condition.
- Perform any special assignments or projects as requested by the Lead/Superintendent, or other members of management.
- Must be able to climb elevations and lift up to 100 lbs.
- Must be able to travel out-of-town for various job projects and stay overnight when required.
- Must hold, or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, and laborers are regularly subject to variable weather conditions that include inclement weather, rain, extreme heat and humidity, with regular exposure to dust. Concrete work is primarily physical and often strenuous. Prolonged standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling are often necessary. A regular exposure to injury exists due to frequent work with moving mechanical parts, sharp or rough materials, using sharp tools and power equipment, and working in situations where there is risk of slips and falls. Hours of work will generally average 40 to 45 hours a week. There will be some variation in work hours due to project work levels, deadlines, and other customer needs and/or issues.
