What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Aquatics Instructor position at DelGrosso's Amusement Park?
Education & Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must have a valid Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Instructor License or be able to obtain within the first 90 days of employment. Previous lifeguard and lifeguard instructor experience is strongly preferred. Must have basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills. Must have the ability to meet strict deadlines, work well under pressure and respond quickly/effectively to emergency situations. Must be able to work the entirety of a scheduled shift according to business needs and be a management or lifeguard team member within the Aquatics department.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate and manage ILTP courses and lifeguard in-service training during the pre-season and in-season.
- Safely conduct scheduled ILTP courses by following E&A training standards ensuring students and employees are always participating in a safe environment.
- Follow assigned course outline provided by lead instructor and adjust as needed with prior approval.
- Teach rescue and lifesaving techniques as outlined in the Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Manual, Instructor Resource Binder, and Skill Competency Workbook.
- Teach standard operating procedures and emergency action plans as outlined in the Laguna Splash EAP & SOP manuals.
- Accurately assess and document lifeguard candidate progress based on skills performance during ILTP courses.
- Document attendance during ILTP courses and employee in-service training.
- Provide written lesson plans for effective organization of in-service trainings on strict deadlines.
- Provide courteous, polite service and strive to answer any questions to the best of knowledge or direct questions to lead instructor/Assistant Director of Aquatics.
- Manage the set-up and tear-down of ILTP courses and lifeguard in-service training, making sure training equipment is properly set up and put away.
- Maintain a high level of readiness physically and mentally to work quickly, effectively, and efficiently under pressure in both emergency situations and during scheduled classes and in-services.
- Anticipate, recognize, and respond to emergencies in a timely and appropriate manner according to ILTP standards.
- Complying and enforcing all established company and departmental rules, regulations, and procedures
- Work in various weather and environmental conditions including direct and indirect sunlight, heat, humidity, rain, hail, cold temperatures.

- Be honest, reliable and have an appropriate means of transportation to and from work.
