What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Lifeguard In Training position at DelGrosso's Amusement Park?
Education & Qualifications: Must be at least 15 years old and must obtain an Ellis & Associates Shallow Water or Special Facilities Lifeguard License which includes CPR, First Aid & AED training. Ellis & Associates International Lifeguard Training Program will be provided and paid for by DelGrosso's Park. Lifeguarding skills must be performed at a minimum water depth of 5 feet (1.5 meters) and meet Ellis & Associates standards. Must possess a general knowledge of water safety and operations of aquatic attractions. Must be able to work the entirety of a scheduled shift according to business needs. Previous lifeguarding experience is preferred, but not required. All Lifeguards will be paid $11.00/hour until completing and passing the free Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Certification course/test and completing company orientation. After orientation is completed, starting rate of pay for Shallow Lifeguards will be $12.50/hour and Special Facility Lifeguards will be $14.00/hour. Participants who fail the swim or certification test may not work as a lifeguard and will be considered for an available position in a different department.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure the safety of all park guests by properly enforcing rules and regulations of the waterpark.
- Meet/exceed the standards set forth within the Ellis & Associates manual/licensure agreement.
- Follow all employee rules & obligations set forth within the seasonal employee & aquatics department handbooks.
- Anticipate, recognize, and respond to emergencies in a timely and appropriate manner according to International Lifeguard Training program standards.
- Always maintain a high level of readiness physically and mentally to work quickly, effectively, and efficiently under pressure in both emergency situations and during operational hours.
- Work all scheduled shifts as assigned without hesitation, including in-service trainings which are required by Ellis & Associates to maintain lifeguard licensure.
- Maintain cleanliness & care of employee uniform, equipment, and employee work/break areas.
- Inform management of any issues such as guest complaints, issues, unsafe/unsanitary conditions anywhere within the waterpark.
- Verify that guests have proper admission via a colored wristband and meet the height requirements when using any of the aquatic attractions.
- Dispatch guests from slide towers if 16 years of age or older.
- Provide courteous, polite guest service and strive to answer any questions to the best of knowledge or direct guests in the appropriate direction to make their experience more enjoyable.
- Work in various weather and environmental conditions including direct and indirect sunlight, heat, humidity, rain, hail, cold temperatures.

- Be honest, reliable and have an appropriate means of transportation to and from work.
- Be able to work in a team atmosphere, provide help and support to co-workers when appropriate.
