SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Shift Supervisor (Hybrid) has dual responsibility of managing both the kitchen staff and front of house staff, ensuring store and kitchen policies and procedures are being followed, and maintaining efficiency throughout the store and kitchen.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Directly supervises and observes the kitchen and front of house employees to ensure that they are following policies and procedures correctly.
  • Provides support to both the kitchen team and front of house team when necessary.
  • Maintains and motivates team through communication and positive energy.
  • Ensures all finished products are counted and packed in a neat and organized way.
  • Responsible for opening and closing of the store.
  • Greets customers upon entrance and educates customers throughout their experience in the store.
  • Examines and inspects all items to ensure that quality specifications are upheld.
  • Helps bakery team maintain operational lines.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of the expectations for each kitchen and front of house position and fulfills these roles when necessary or required.
  • Supports employees through conflict resolution, effective time management, workload prioritization and individual staff development, and reviews training when necessary.
  • Ensures smooth transitions between shifts, especially during periods of high-volume.
  • Maintains behavior that sets a positive example to subordinates and other team members.
  • Supports the Assistant Kitchen Manager with assignments of cooking personnel to ensure economical use of food and timely preparation.
  • Verifies that the kitchen team is maintaining sanitation levels.
  • Notifies the Assistant Kitchen Manager or Kitchen Manager about malfunctions in kitchen equipment in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that necessary ingredients are available and as fresh as possible while also minimizing spoilage and waste.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction with all aspects of their experience with the store.
  • Handles customer complaints and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that the store always looks clean and inviting.
  • Ensures the store environment complies with health and safety regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Flexibility to work around customer demand.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with food handling, safety, and other restaurant guidelines.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of previous restaurant experience required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, twist and turn body.
  • Ability to traverse all parts of the store quickly.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds at times.
  • This position does require the ability to perform under stressful conditions and high-volume demands.
