We are seeking a Manager, Transportation and Network Design, who can develop and maintain relationships within the carrier network. Our ideal candidate will lead negotiations so strong negotiation skills is a must. This role will be the department leader and responsible for thinking strategically to optimize the carrier network and adapt to changing conditions.
Job Description:
- Carrier Network Development
- Identify and onboard new carrier partners to expand and diversify the carrier network.
- Research and evaluate potential carriers to ensure alignment with Delivered’s service goals and customer needs.
- Relationship Management
- Maintain and strengthen long-term relationships with existing carriers, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Serve as the main point of contact for all carrier-related communications, ensuring consistent collaboration.
- Negotiation & Contracting
- Lead negotiations with carriers on rates, service levels, and contractual agreements to ensure competitive pricing and service efficiency.
- Develop and manage multi-year agreements that ensure mutual growth and stability.
- Performance Monitoring & Optimization
- Continuously monitor carrier performance using key metrics (on-time performance, cost-effectiveness, service reliability) and address any issues proactively.
- Implement strategies for improving carrier efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing overall network performance.
- Strategic Planning & Forecasting
- Develop long-term strategies to optimize the carrier network and adapt to changing market conditions, customer needs, and delivery expectations.
- Collaborate with internal teams (operations, sales, finance) to align carrier strategy with broader company goals.
- Cost Management
- Oversee the financial aspects of carrier relationships, including freight spend, cost-saving initiatives, and budget management.
- Identify opportunities to reduce accessorial fees and overages while ensuring service quality remains high.
- Innovation & Capability Building
- Drive innovation by working with carriers to adopt new technologies, improve service capabilities, and create custom solutions for Delivered’s clients.
- Lead initiatives to enhance delivery speed, network flexibility, and customer satisfaction.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all carrier partnerships comply with legal and regulatory requirements, maintaining high standards of safety and service.
- Manage risks associated with carrier operations and logistics, mitigating potential disruptions.
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with operations, technology, and customer service teams to integrate carrier strategies into the overall logistics process.
- Work closely with product and tech teams to develop and implement carrier-related system enhancements.
- Market Trends & Competitor Analysis
- Stay informed on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor strategies, using insights to strengthen Delivered’s carrier strategy.
- Provide regular updates to executive leadership on carrier market conditions and opportunities for strategic growth.
- Drive innovation by working with carriers to adopt new technologies, improve service capabilities, and create custom solutions for Delivered’s clients.
- Lead initiatives to enhance delivery speed, network flexibility, and customer satisfaction.
Experience/Education Requirements:
- At least 4 years of Last Mile Delivery Experience is required
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience is required
- Prior experience leading a team is preferred
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong organizational skills
