The Dell Rapids School District seeks a passionate and dedicated individual to join our coaching staff as an Assistant Competitive Cheer Coach. This is an exciting opportunity to work with enthusiastic high school and middle school students, fostering their athletic skills, teamwork, and love for competitive cheerleading.
- Assist the Head Coach in planning and executing effective practice sessions focused on skill development.
- Provide individualized instruction and constructive feedback to athletes to help them improve their skills and technique.
- Assist with the development and implementation of competition routines, including choreography and music selection (under the direction of the Head Coach).
- Ensure the safety of all athletes by enforcing proper techniques, spotting procedures, and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Foster a positive and supportive team environment that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect.
- Assist with team administrative tasks, such as communication with athletes and parents, equipment management, and scheduling (as needed).
- Attend competitions and other team events as required.
- Adhere to all school/organization policies and procedures.
- Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
- Potentially lead specific aspects of the program as delegated by the Head Coach.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in competitive cheerleading, either as a participant or coach, is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cheerleading skills, techniques, and safety regulations.
- Ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, parents, and other coaches.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a passion for working with young people.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching team.
- Must complete all SDHSAA coaching requirements.
- Must be able to pass a background check as required by the Dell Rapids School District.
