Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Head Volleyball Coach, the Assistant Volleyball Coach will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the volleyball program, including but not limited to:
- Assisting with the planning and execution of daily practices, skill development drills, and game strategies.
- Providing individual and small group instruction to players, focusing on fundamental skills and positional techniques.
- Assisting with player evaluation and recruitment (if applicable).
- Contributing to the development of a positive and disciplined team culture.
- Traveling with the team to away games and tournaments.
- Assisting with administrative tasks as needed.
- Adhering to all school district policies, athletic department guidelines, and South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) rules and regulations.
- Promoting sportsmanship and ethical conduct among players.
- Maintaining effective communication with the Head Coach, players, parents, and school administration.
- Potentially leading specific aspects of the program as delegated by the Head Coach.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience at the high school or club level preferred.
- Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, rules, and strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Positive role model with a commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes.
- Must be able to pass a background check and meet all district requirements for coaching personnel.
- Must complete all SDHSAA coaching requirements.
