Veterinary Assistant/Customer Service Representative

Responsibilities

This role currently consists of approximately 70% Veterinary Assistant duties and 30% Customer Service Representative tasks. Responsibilities may evolve over time.

Veterinary Assistant Duties:

  • Safely handle and restrain patients during exams and procedures.
  • Assist veterinarians and technicians as needed.
  • Gather and accurately relay patient medical histories.
  • Maintain cleanliness and supply levels in exam rooms.
  • Help clients and pets transition from the parking lot to the exam room.
  • Oversee parking lot coordination as needed.
  • Process lab samples and medication refills per clinic SOPs.

Customer Service Representative Duties:

  • Greet clients, answer questions, and check patients in.
  • Schedule appointments and handle client communications via phone, email, and messaging.
  • Process payments, invoices, and returns.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail and emails.
  • Scan and enter patient records into the database.

Requirements

  • Comfortable with phone, email, and client messaging communication.
  • Technological literacy and proficiency.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely restrain pets.
  • Comfort with discussing and assisting in euthanasia procedures.
  • Ability to understand and communicate the hospital’s policies and recommendations to clients effectively.
  • At least one-year of veterinary assistant experience.
