Work You’ll Do
Assist clients to manage state tax liabilities and advise them on various state tax laws and rules. Services include business restructuring, credits and incentives, state income and franchise tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy. Provide compliance and consulting services to corporate and passthrough clients. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities. Primary responsibilities include overseeing complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries as well as researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues such as income/franchise taxation of complex transactions and unique products and services. Undertake tax compliance assignments for clients. Assume tax-planning responsibilities for corporate and passthrough clients. Will commute within the Boston, MA area to consult with clients regarding the above job duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
- Eighteen months as Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience preparing and reviewing corporate income and franchise tax returns, estimates, extensions, and provisions in multistate jurisdictions.
- Experience must include eighteen months of:
- Utilizing tax tools and software, including CorpTax, Onesource for income taxes, CCH, BNA, RIA CheckPoint, and Superforms, to perform tax research and review income tax returns for business entities;
- Utilizing CCH, BNA, and Bloomberg Terminal to research and solve complex client tax issues;
- Providing income and franchise tax consulting, tax planning, tax audit defense, and support services for financial accounting and reporting for income taxes;
- Preparing complex tax technical memos and responding to information documents requests and various tax notices;
- Assisting clients in resolving tax disputes, notices, and audits with departments of revenue;
- Providing due diligence for tax matters, including mergers and acquisitions;
- Assisting with overseeing engagement workflow and engagement team resources; and
- Mentoring and guiding junior team members.
- Position requires 10% domestic travel outside normal commuting distance.
