The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to manage and guide track inspection activities, while ensuring compliance with standards and promoting best practices within the organization. This position offers the opportunity to lead a team and make a significant impact on the efficiency and safety of rail operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform daily track inspections, while mentoring junior track inspectors on procedures and reporting techniques.
- Develop and implement inspection plans and schedules to ensure compliance with industry standards and TRST-1000 Manual.
- Support project managers in conducting cost-benefit analysis for new projects and recommend solutions for cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist in the creation and execution of preventive maintenance programs and ensure compliance with track safety standards.
- Oversee the inspection process, generate inspection reports, and communicate critical conditions to field personnel and management.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to track inspectors and other inspection staff, helping to develop skills and promote a culture of safety and quality.
- Ensure that all inspection practices adhere to established safety and operating rules.
- Manage, track, and report on progress of inspections to ensure all deliverables meet required standards.
- Utilize tools and systems such as Maximo, Optram, and Cognos to support reporting, tracking, and performance metrics.
- Monitor and assist with the documentation of non-compliant items and track defect reporting.
- Provide training on advanced track inspection methods and systems to staff members.
- Minimum 10 years of supervisory experience within rail transit or FRA Class 4 railroad operations, or a combination of extensive track inspection experience and supervisory background.
- Strong understanding of railroad track construction and maintenance practices.
- Proven ability to manage and execute track inspection assignments, leading a team of 10 to 30 track inspectors.
- Deep knowledge of track safety standards and how to apply them in the field.
- Proficient in Maximo, Optram, MaxTrax, and other relevant track inspection software.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to document and report on track inspections and defects clearly and accurately.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and mentor personnel in both track-related functions and operational procedures.
- Professional engineering certification or equivalent qualifications preferred.
