Job Overview
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Human Resources Director to perform duties at the professional level in all the following functional areas; employee relations, training, recruitment/employment, benefits management, performance management, onboarding and offboarding, policy development and implementation, IT management, employment law compliance and some payroll functions as back up to the finance department. This position ensures all people systems are in place for sustainably pursuing the agency’s mission and uphold its values. The HR Director advises senior leadership on organizational needs related to culture and employee morale.

Essential Functions

  • Directs and oversees day-to-day internal people systems of DBWPC, Inc.
  • In collaboration with the COO, develops and administers human resource employee handbook and agency policies and procedures
  • Communicates with employees and advises management on various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government relations.
  • Ensures resources and training are available to staff and communicates expected areas of accountability and performance, to adhere to agency contracts, federal, state and local requirements as well as employee growth and development.
  • Maintains Human Resources files in shared document platform, to include personnel files
  • Administers the compensation and paid time off programs; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises, creates/updates job descriptions as necessary.
  • With the agency PEO, manages employee benefits plans, communicates benefits information to employees and manages open enrollment.
  • Oversees bimonthly staff meeting set up to include; in collaboration with leadership creating agendas, related documentation and room reservation
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all permanent and temporary exempt and nonexempt positions, temporary employees; application process; conducts new-employee orientations; writes and places position posting.
  • Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and performs exit interviews. Coaches, counsels and guides leadership and managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
  • Responds to employee relations issues such as employee complaints.
  • Advises COO and leadership team and supervisors on personnel issues including safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, training, grievances, etc.
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the COO or CEO/President on personnel and compliance matters
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Represents the organization for any unemployment claims.
  • Participates in audits as needed, sharing and providing personnel and people systems and processes related information.

Secondary Functions

  • Supports organizational fundraising efforts, including but not limited to events and donor cultivation

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Required Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree
  • 7 years’ related work experience in a nonprofit
  • Current PHR/SPHR certification required

Individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for the position.

Work Environment/ Demands

This position operates primarily in professional offices with varied levels of accessibility, including walking and getting on and off elevators or stairs often.

  • This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
  • This position transports supplies such as equipment, clothes, books, art materials, and food.
  • The position occasionally has to pick-up, items up to 15 lbs.
  • This position often requires repetitive hand and wrist motions.
  • This position often requires moving around from place to place to accomplish tasks, while stooping or stretching.
  • This position requires remaining stationary in a sitting or standing position occasionally.
  • This is a highly communicative position, requiring constant communication to exchange messages with staff and community members.
  • This position requires a constant ability to assess the level of accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, Mon-Friday, 9-5. The nature of the work on occasionally requires employee engagement outside of traditional office hours, including evenings and weekends.

Travel

This position doesn’t require regular travel outside the office.

The individual who fills this position must have reliable transportation to the office.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
