We have a part-time position available for a service and sales-minded individual to join our dedicated sales team Saturday - Sunday! The Tasting Room Sales Associate will play a vital role in delivering world-class customer service while promoting our exquisite wines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensures that all guests are greeted immediately upon entry to the tasting room and provided with experiences that will build brand loyalty;
- Communicates in a knowledgeable, professional and gracious manner with all guests;
- Maintains the tasting room’s physical setting to reinforce brand standards by ensuring that displays of products are attractive and well maintained;
- ID’s guests when needed to ensure they are of legal age to consume alcohol;
- Serves samples for guests in both individual and group settings;
- Shares appropriate information and educates guests about our wines, winemaker, brand history, sister wineries and lodging;
- Promotes the sale of our products, proactively pursues sales opportunities, asks for the sale, and encourages customers to purchase our products and join the club;
- Accurately uses POS registers and other winery systems to accurately transact sales and maintain tasting room inventory;
- Accurately completes end of day reports, reconciles daily sales and posts transactions;
- Fosters teamwork by working and communicating with others in a collaborative and respectful way;
- Demonstrates personal accountability in following all company policies and procedures;
- Performs opening and closing procedures;
- Performs various housekeeping duties, including, but not limited to: emptying of trash, washing and polishing glassware, cleaning restrooms, etc.;
- Restocks wine and glassware in the tasting room as needed;
- Follows all Company policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age;
- Exceptional guest service skills;
- First-hand knowledge of, appreciation and passion for wine and wine-related topics;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and confidently with guests;
- Able to present wines and club memberships, ask for and close sales;
- Interpersonal awareness, relationship management and influencing skills;
- Able to analyze information and make sound decisions/recommendations based on same;
- Must work weekends and occasional holidays as required and extended hours as needed;
- Must work events as required, which may extend longer than usual tasting room hours;
- Present a professional appearance and demeanor;
- Able to work well as part of a team and also independently;
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented;
- Able to obtain (within 60 days of hire) and maintain a Responsible Beverage Server and Safe Food Handler certification;
- Must be able to work alone in the tasting room as needed.
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- One or more years of experience in the same or similar position in the wine industry preferred.
Language Skills:
- Fluent in English in both oral and written formats. Multi-lingual preferred.
- Able to communicate in a professional and effective manner at all times.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Reasoning Ability:
Able to understand, follow instructions, and ask clarifying questions when needed.
Computer Skills:
Proficient with point-of-sale, shipping, VinNow, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee must work in while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly working in a combination of environments, including the tasting room, a temperature controlled wine storage area, and outside areas, including an outdoor patio. Employees will be exposed to varying temperatures and conditions when working outdoors. The employee may occasionally work at other locations during special events. The noise level in the work environment is generally low. Events may have a higher noise level.

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, fingers and arms to lift/carry/move/stack, grasp, reach, lower, open and close. Must be able to accurately operate a POS system, standard office and kitchen equipment, perform various housekeeping duties, read, write, type, smell, taste, see, listen/hear and speak. The employee is required to stand, move, and walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee must be able to squat, lift, move, carry and stack 50 pounds on a repetitive basis, climb stairs, set up/break down tables, chairs and umbrellas. The employee may occasionally be required to sit, stoop, kneel and crouch.
