Job Summary
The Construction Estimator contributes to the development of prospective and awarded project estimates, budgets, trade work scopes and trade partner contract development. The Construction Estimator will also contribute to planning, scheduling and procurement strategies and process implementation. This is a great opportunity for someone looking towards a path from Estimator to Senior Estimator due to the proposed internal growth and project acquisition targets in coming years.

Responsibilities:
Estimating
• Participates in preparation of project estimates for prospective and awarded work.
• Provides analysis of project requirements, schedules, plans, specifications, contracts, and other data that informs bid package content.
• Engages in information gathering processes required to develop internal or trade partner estimates for Client and trade partner RFIs; material sources and evaluations; and quantity take-offs.
• Solicits trade partners and vendors’ interest in and response to bid requests.
• Participates in the development and assembly of bid packages.
• Assists in critical evaluation of trade partners and vendor bids inclusive of time, cost, material, and manpower proposed for supply of trade services or products.
• Directs or engages in information gathering processes required to develop internal or trade partner estimates for Owner and trade partners.
RFIs; material sources and evaluations; and quantity take-offs.
• Ensures that the best bids are obtained for each trade, based on the needs of the project with a minimum of 5 bids per trade
• Provides critical evaluation of trade partner and vendor bids inclusive of time, cost, material, and manpower proposed for supply of trade services or products.
Trade Partner and Vendor Network Development
• Contributes to trade partner and vendor database upkeep through research and networking
• Participates in the trade partner prequalification and qualification renewal process.
Required Skills/Abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations.
• Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to make intelligent and quick decisions, work well under pressure, and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
• Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems.
Education and Experience
• 5 years’ experience in a construction estimating or related role, preferably with a general construction company.
• Vast knowledge of all trades: scope, timeframes/field execution, typical missed scope/exposures and an understanding of MEP systems and components
