SUMMARY:
Our Prevention Counselor is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring programs aimed at preventing substance abuse, bullying, and other harmful behaviors among students. This role involves providing counseling services, conducting educational workshops, collaborating with teachers, parents, and community resources, and promoting a safe, healthy, and supportive K-12 school environment.
This is a Monday-Friday, 8-4:30 schedule.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schools/Community:
· Coordinate with school districts for program participation.
· Establish a timetable for development and implementations of programs to specific schools.
· Identify specific target populations for each type of program (e.g., 3rd graders, middle schoolers, etc.).
· Teach the appropriate curriculum to each class, as determined.
· Maintain availability to provide consultation, coordination and cooperation with district staff/faculty.
· Network with other providers as necessary.
· Any other task which may be required.
Agency
· Attend and participate in all staff meetings.
· Compile and submit activity data on a weekly basis.
· Participate actively in supervision.
· Attend agency sponsored trainings and workshops to enhance skills.
· Prepare new and updated prevention education programs and materials, and attend trainings related to implementation of evidenced-based prevention programs.
· Implement established protocols to evaluate and predict the effectiveness of the programs provided.
QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum requirements for this position:
· A Master’s Degree in Education, or related field is required.
· Two years or more of teaching or training experience ideal.
