Job Title: Data Analyst – Metadata and Data Lineage Specialist (Contract) - Job#5376
Worksite: Chicago, IL (Onsite Mandatory 3 days/week)
Our client has an Immediate Opportunity for an experienced Data Analyst within Java codesource. Within this team you will design and implement cutting-edge solutions that streamline data lineage, ensure data quality, and enhance data governance across diverse systems and platforms. Leverage your expertise in Java, Python, and modern data technologies to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Metadata & Data Lineage Development: Create and implement metadata and data lineage solutions for a variety of data sources, including Kafka, Protocol Buffers, Redis, APIs, databases, flat files, JSON, and ETL/BI tools, across both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Technical Collaboration: Partner with technical SMEs and developers to analyze system/application designs and generate data flow diagrams and data mappings.
- Source-to-Target Mapping: Reverse engineer Java code, BI tools, and SQL queries to document data flows and create comprehensive mapping documentation.
- Automation: Develop custom metadata connectors and scanners to automate metadata extraction from disparate sources, and build programs to streamline the creation of data flow and mapping documents.
- Data Governance: Execute end-to-end business and technical data lineage initiatives in alignment with data governance standards, policies, and procedures.
- Data Solutions Design: Architect and implement capabilities like metadata management, data quality, data catalogs, and data dictionaries.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 6 years of experience in data analysis, metadata, and data lineage with a strong grasp of data flows and mappings.
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in Java (version 8 ), Spring, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, and Kafka Streams.
- Skilled in SQL, Python, and PySpark for data analysis.
- Hands-on experience with relational, NoSQL, and object-based databases.
- Familiarity with Protobuf, Kafka, and API-based data sources.
- Code Analysis: Ability to read, write, and review Java code to ensure adherence to functional requirements, architectural principles, and data standards.
- Tools & Diagrams: Experience with draw.io or similar tools for creating architecture and data flow diagrams.
- Documentation: Proficient in writing technical documentation for Java-based, real-time, and batch data processing applications.
- Data Quality: Proven ability to develop and implement data quality solutions across diverse environments and data sources.
- Soft Skills: Strong multitasking abilities, attention to detail, and a track record of meeting tight deadlines. Preferred Skills:
- Experience with metadata management tools, custom metadata bridges, and third-party integrations.
- Advanced knowledge of object-oriented design and software design patterns.
