Job Description :
Our client located in Providence, RI has an immediate opening for a System Administrator to join their team. The System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation / configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems, hardware and software and related infrastructure. The System Administrator participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. The System Administrator ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff to work effectively.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the administration and daily operation of Cloud based and local client-based software.
- Ensure the administration and daily operation of Infrastructure servers.
- Remote device management.
- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories etc. in accordance with standards and project / operational requirements.
- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.
- Identify approaches that leverage our resources.
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
- Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required.
- Maintaining, configuring, and monitoring cloud and locally based software.
- Create detailed procedures, checklists, troubleshooting documentation, and contribute to the team knowledge base.
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
- Cross train, document and inform other team members on operational tasks.
- Provide remote support to end users / customers during off hours.
